Equipment Needed:
- A stable Internet connection. Wired is preferred to wireless as it provides a stable consistent connection
- A working webcam and mic.
Step 1: Connecting to your scheduled meeting/class from various devices
From the email invitation, click on the link that was sent to you.
- FROM A WINDOWS DEVICE:
- At the Open Zoom_launcher.exe popup click Save File
- Once file is downloaded click the Zoom_Launcher.exe file from the download folder.
- Click Run at the Open File pop up, you may need to wait a minute or so to be connected.
- If prompted for a sign on, click SSO and enter "lawrence" in the .zoom.us box.
- Then sign in with your username and password. Click Sign In.
- At the “how do you want to join the Audio Conference click one of the following:
- PREFERRED METHOD: From the Computer Audio tab click Join Audio Conference by Computer button.
- From the Call me tab, enter your 10-digit phone number and click Call Me.
- At this time you will be placed into the Zoom meeting.
- FROM A MAC DEVICE:
- At the time of the scheduled meeting click on the link that was emailed to you.
- At the Launch Application popup click Open Link.
- If not already signed in, click sign in with SSO (bottom of the screen). Enter the word "Lawrence" at the .zoom.us box. sign in with your username and password.
- At the “how do you want to join the Audio Conference click one of the following:
- PREFERRED METHOD: From the Computer Audio tab click Join Audio Conference by Computer button.
- From the Call me tab, enter your 10-digit phone number and click Call Me.
- At this time you will be placed into the Zoom meeting.
- CONNECTING FROM A IOS OR ANDROID DEVICE
- Download the IOS or Android app
- For IOS, visit the Apple App Store and search “zoom”. Click to download the Zoom Cloud Meetings app.
- For Android, visit Google Play and search “zoom”. Click install
- Join a meeting from your IOS or Android App
- Click on the Zoom app
- Click Join Meeting
- Enter the Meeting ID (found on your meeting invite)
- Click Join Meeting
- From the iOS
- At the “audio prompt click one of the following options:
- PREFERRED METHOD: Call using Internet Audio
- Dial In
- Call My Phone
- Click your name at the bottom left corner to
- Start video
- Mute your volume
- Share content
- From an Android: turn on video and audio when prompted or click at the bottom of the screen to see menu options
- From the iOS
Step 2: To leave the meeting, click Leave from the bottom right corner.
Attendee Controls in the Zoom window
When you join a Zoom meeting hosted by another user, you are considered an attendee. The user who scheduled the meeting or was selected to be the alternative host (if the host is unable to join) will have host controls.
Attendee Controls:
The attendee controls appear at the bottom of your screen if you're not currently screen sharing.
Attendees have access to these features:
Mute / Unmute: Mute and unmute your microphone.
Audio Controls (click the ^ arrow next to Mute / Unmute): Allows you to change the microphone and speaker that Zoom is currently using on your computer.
Tip: Use the following keyboard shortcuts to mute or unmute yourself.
- Windows: Alt + A
- Mac: Shift + Command + A
Start Video / Stop Video: Turns your camera on or off.
Video Controls (click the ^ arrow next to Start Video / Stop Video): Change cameras if you have multiple cameras, select a virtual background (if enabled), or access your full video settings.
Invite: Invite others to join your current meeting.
Participants: See who's currently in the meeting. The Participants list also gives you access to these options:
- Rename: Hover over your name and click Rename to change your screen name displayed to other participants.
- Non-verbal feedback icons (if enabled by the host): Places an icon beside your name to quickly notify the host. For example, Raise Hand places the raise hand icon beside your name and simulates a hand raise.
Share Screen: Start a screen share (if the host allows). You will be able to select the desktop or application you want to share. Learn more.
Chat: Access the chat window to chat with the participants. Learn more.
Record: Start or stop a local recording. Attendees do not have access to start a cloud recording.
Note: The host will need to allow local recordings in their account settings, then give you permission to record. If you don't have permission to record, use the in-meeting chat or audio to ask the host for permission.
Leave Meeting: Leave the meeting while it continues for the other participants. Only the host can end the meeting.
