What to Bring and Not to Bring

What you need:

  • Twin XL Bedding (36" x 80") (Sheets, Comforter, Pillows, etc.)
  • Bath towels and washcloths
  • Toiletries
  • Clothes (remember we experience 4 seasons at LU)
  • Hangers
  • Laundry Basket or Hamper
  • High-Efficiency Laundry Detergent (Not Pods)
  • Fan
  • UL-approved Power Strip
  • Smart TV or TV and Streaming Device
  • Streaming Service log-ins and Gaming Equipment (with Ethernet Cable)
  • Shower Caddy and Shower Shoes
  • Storage Containers and/or Closet Organizer
  • Damage-Free Adhesives
  • Laptop
  • School Supplies (Notebooks, Pencils, Pens, etc.)
  • Personal Information (Health Insurance Card, IDs, etc.)
  • Personal Health Kit (Thermometer, Bandages, etc.)
  • Mini Fridge less than 4 cubic feet (optional)

 

 

 

For the Fox Commons: 

  • Pots & pans 

  • Dishes 

  • Utensils 

  • Food storage containers 

  • Dish towel 

  • Small appliances 

  • Dish drainer 

  • Shower curtain & rings 

  • Bath mat or rug 

  • Cleaning supplies 

  • Tall kitchen trash can 

  • Small bathroom trash can 

 

 

 

These items are allowed, but often get thrown out:

  • Futons and Other Furniture
  • Full-Length Mirrors
  • Area Rugs
  • Printers (residence halls have printing stations for student use)
  • Bed Risers (up to 12 inches, though most are only sold in 6 inch sizes)

 

What isn't allowed:

  • Halogen Lamps
  • Air Conditioner Units
  • Space Heaters
  • Microwaves
  • Candles or Incense
  • Any Weapon, including Airsoft Guns and Ornamental Knives
  • Dart Boards
  • Non-UL-approved Extension Cords
  • Pets (except fish in a 10 gallon or less aquarium - one per student)
  • LED Light Strips with Included Adhesives (damages walls)
  • Anything with an Open-Heating Element, including George Foreman Grills, Air Fryers, Hot or Induction Plates, Toasters, and Toaster Ovens or anything with an open heating element (these items are restricted in the residence halls, but allowed in the apartment kitchens)
