Björklunden Housing Availability

In an effort to guarantee each seminar in a given week has an equal chance at attracting participants who need housing, the guest rooms for each week are divided into equal portions for each seminar. If a seminar has met its allotted guest room assignment capacity, we start a waiting list.  Click the header below for more information.

Waiting List Information

  • If a seminar has met its allotted guest room assignment capacity, we start a waiting list and inform potential participants of the options listed below.  If there are still open rooms available two months before the start date, we will release the rooms to all seminars and contact those on the waiting list.
  • If a seminar reaches its maximum participant limit or if the lodge no longer has vacancies for residents, those interested in attending may:
    • 1) Add their names to a waiting list; there is no charge to be on the waiting list. If space becomes available, we contact the first person on the list as soon as possible and that person has 48 hours to register before we move on to the next person.
    • 2) Find lodging elsewhere in Door County and register for seminars as commuters.
      • Björklunden recommends that participants contact Maxwelton Braes - a lodge located just down the road in Baileys Harbor - for their special 20% discounted Björklunden seminar participant lodging rates.  Click this link for more info: Maxwelton Braes Special Bjorklunden Discount.pdf Call (920) 839-2321 or email  In addition to Sunday dinner and all lunches, which are included in the commuter package, participants are welcome to sign up and pay for breakfasts and dinners at the lodge on an à la carte basis. Contact the Assistant Director at (920) 839-2216 or at with questions regarding this special offer.

Björklunden is a 441-acre estate with a 37,000 square foot lodge.  The lodge contains a great room, multipurpose and seminar rooms, dining room and kitchen, as well as 22 guest rooms. There are two lakeside decks, a second-story observation deck, an elevator and a computer lab. The entire facility has wireless internet access and plenty of parking. For more information on the lodge, click below.

  • Guest rooms are dorm-room style with two twin beds on the floor and other beds in bunk bed formation.  Each room has a private bathroom with grab bars in the tub or shower.
  • Handicap-accessible rooms are available – please note this on the registration form if need be.
  • All rooms contain linens (sheets, blankets, quilts, pillows, bath towels, hand towels, face cloths, and a bath mat), bars of soap, desks, dressers, and nightstands.
  • All guest rooms contain their own A/C wall unit to use in the summer and thermostat-controlled in-floor heating system for the fall and winter.
  • In the spirit of a relaxed stay, there are no radios, televisions, telephones, hairdryers, microwaves or refrigerators in the bedrooms.  It is suggested that guests bring their own alarm clock and hair dryer as well as personal toiletries, medications, a flashlight and good walking shoes for out on the trails.
  • Participants should consider bringing a raincoat and a sweater or jacket - the lodge will be comfortable, but it is often cool in Baileys Harbor, even when the rest of the peninsula is warm.
  • Casual dress is acceptable everywhere in Door County; guests should not feel they must “dress for dinner” while they are here.
  • There are no laundry facilities on site - please pack enough clothing to last the entire week.
  • For those who are light sleepers, it is suggested that you bring ear plugs or request a room on the second floor.
  • An iron, ironing board and rubber tub mats are available upon request.
  • Wireless internet access is available throughout the lodge; there is also a computer lab with a number of PCs available. No username or password is required for use of the computers or wireless network.
  • Cell phone reception is very poor at Björklunden – most people have luck getting reception outside the lodge in the parking lot. There is a landline on site guests can use if need be.
  • Smoking is not permitted in any building on the estate. Smoking is only allowed outside of the northern entrance of the main lodge.
  • There is an elevator.
  • There are six music practice rooms, each with a piano or keyboard, available for guests to use upstairs.  We ask that guests be respectful of others who may be staying in the surrounding bedrooms and to not practice during normal sleeping hours.
  • Pets are not allowed in the lodge. Please contact Björklunden with questions regarding pets.
  • Camping is not allowed anywhere on the Björklunden property.  This includes tents, pop-up campers and RVs.
  • The bar here is strictly BYOB, whether it be alcohol or soft drinks.
  • Fresh coffee is out each morning by about 6:30.
  • Door County friends and family are welcome to join participants at mealtime as space permits; logistics will be worked out upon arrival.
  • Guests should let Björklunden know, in advance if possible, if they have any special dietary needs or food allergies (e.g. vegetarian, gluten-free, lactose intolerant, allergic to shellfish, etc.).  Our chef will do his best to accommodate individuals with dietary restrictions.
