Both the Lawrence University Wind Ensemble and the Symphonic Band offer high-caliber ensemble performance experiences and an exploration of a rich array of repertoire.

Selected from the top wind and percussion students, the Wind Ensemble performs concerts throughout the academic year both on and off campus. You’ll have opportunities to perform with guest soloists, conductors, and composers. Play repertoire consisting of the finest wind music, from Bach to major contemporary composers, and works by your talented fellow students. The repertoire is also deepening and expanding, with a commitment to honor the works of composers from underrepresented backgrounds. The Wind Ensemble also performs at venues including major music conventions and issues acclaimed recordings. 

Symphonic Band

This high-caliber, auditioned ensemble is comprised of both music and non-music major students with the belief that ensemble performance experience should be available to all capable musicians. You’ll play a wide variety of repertoire such as Aakash Mittal's Samay Raga for Wind Ensemble, Theresa Martin's Radiance, and Steven Bryant's Ecstatic Waters, and honor the ever-increasing repertoire written by composers from underrepresented groups.
