Registration
You may register for one D-Term course. At least five students must be enrolled in course or it will be canceled. If your class is cancelled, you will have an opportunity to enroll in another course. Registration for D-Term closes at fall midterm reading period.
Registration takes place in Voyager.
Dates & Deadlines
2023 D-Term runs from Nov 26 through Dec 10.
- Sun, Nov 26 – Residence halls open (9 a.m.)
- Mon, Nov 27 – First day of classes
- Mon, Nov 28 – Last day to select S/U option
- Wed, Dec 6 – Last day to withdraw (W)
- Fri, Dec 8 – Last day of classes and exams
- Sat-Sun, Dec 9-10 – Closing event (if scheduled, optional)
- Sun, Dec 10 – Residence halls close (6 p.m.)
Tuition & Fees
D-Term tuition is not part of your regular tuition, room, and board costs.
On-Campus Courses
Meet two or more hours each day. May include fieldwork or excursions.

- *Room: $300
- *Board: $370
There may be an additional course fee for supplies or travel expenses.
*Two weeks of room and board are charged for on-campus courses, only if you decide to live on campus.
Opt out of room & board
You may elect to live off campus during December Term for on-campus courses.
Please notify the Office of Residential Education & Housing by the end of October to avoid being billed for room and board.
Travel Courses
Have full-day itineraries in the U.S. or abroad.

Program fee covers lodging, ground transportation, museums/tours, travel insurance, and most meals. You are responsible for your airfare to and from the course site.
Financial Aid
Grant funding applies to tuition only and ranges from $250 to $1,000. You are eligible for a December Term need-based grant if you are a degree-seeking student and enrolled in a D-Term course.
Grant amount will be determined by the Office of Financial Aid and is based on your FAFSA for the current academic year. If you are not eligible for FAFSA, grant amount will be based on I-20 documentation or completion of the CSS Profile.
Federal and/or private loans can also be applied to December Term courses. Contact the Financial Aid Office for more information.
Academic Standing & Degree Requirements
Academic Standing
Your performance in a D-Term course will not change your academic standing. However, your course grade will be included in your grade point average, which could affect your academic standing in subsequent terms.
Degree Requirements
D-Term courses do not count as a term of residency and do not satisfy general education requirements. The 3 units do count toward your 216 units required for graduation. Some D-Term courses may count as an elective for your major, minor, or interdisciplinary area requirement. Please check with your department or program.
